I seem to be drawing a lot of architecture. Wasn't the point of this to get away from buildings for a while? Sketch of laneway portal as sketched from Victory Square at Cambie & Hastings, Downtown Vancouver.

View of Tinseltown from Stadium skytrain station steps.
Vancouver Chinatown - East Pender Street. A few curious people stopped to chat. Fun to draw, too little time.

Drew this after work, sitting on balcony. This sketch compelled me to go and find a little collapsible stool, for outdoor drawing. There's so many fun houses and street scenes in my neighbourhood - drawing from behind the balcony guardrail isn't ideal. Found a tiny tripod stool at London Drugs for $7.50 - all set to go!
Drawing things that I would normally find to be super dull. Actually had fun doing this, though there's weird stuff happening with perspective.

I drew this at 6 in the morning, before my needed coffee. I was hating the drawing at the time, but it's nice to have now.
I am happy to report that the drawing group that I started is a wild success. It's interesting to look back at old posts about it - I guess patience is needed with this kind of project. Every friday, a nice group of people sets out to sketch outdoors. People are finding bags for their sketch stuff, and some are even finding collapsible stools and chairs to bring along for the excursions. We have lessons every 2 weeks, where we explore new techniques as a group.
